17 June 2015 – The world’s first spacecraft thruster with a platinum combustion chamber and nozzle made by 3D printing has passed its baptism of fire with a series of firings lasting more than an hour. The new thruster is part of an activity supported by ESA through the ARTES Programme.
16 June 2015 – New technologies to help fully exploit the capabilities of the next generation of high-throughput telecom satellites will be developed under a public–private partnership between ESA and global satellite operator Intelsat. The Indigo project will develop new ground segment innovations that maximise the new capabilities offered by the latest Intelsat EpicNG satellites.
29 May 2015 – The 5th User & Stakeholder RPAS Workshop revealed growing interest in the new applications offered by the integration of remotely piloted aircraft systems (RPAS) with space assets.
20 May 2015 – Teleinformatica e Sistemi (TeS) has announced the first commercial orders for Janus, the new mobile satellite antenna technology for mobile applications that it developed with the support of ARTES.
15 May 2015 – The European Defence Agency (EDA) and the European Space Agency (ESA) announce a new project to support the development of Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) flying in non-segregated airspace.
22 April 2015 – The first ESA W-band workshop highlighted both the potential and the challenges for deploying W-band for satellite communications and the role ESA is playing in supporting the European space industry in this development.
