Achievements

In the satcom sector, continuous commercial success cannot be maintained without a permanent push for innovation. The TIA ARTES programme has been the mainstay of the telecommunications R&D effort of European industry. In the present situation, this support is needed more than ever before. ESA has contributed to the development of on-board processors, such as those of that are flying on Inmarsat IV, Skyplex and AmerHis.

The Satellite Market

The satellite telecommunication industry is, by far, the most important space sector for the European satellite manufacturing industry, representing more than 60% of satellite activities in Europe. The health of the global satellite telecommunications market is determined by the sustainability and continuity of the European space industry. This is evident from a number of established facts:
