ESA laboratories and test facilities

Testing is a key step in ARTES technology and product development projects. Overall, many different types of testing are needed such as electrical testing, antenna testing, thermal testing and high-power RF testing.

To increase access to testing, ESA offers an extensive infrastructure of internal and external laboratories and test facilities, which is available to companies from all ESA member states.

OPS-SAT VOLT & Lunar Communications Industry Day

The UK Space Agency (UKSA) and European Space Agency (ESA) will be running a joint optical and lunar communications industry day in Bristol on 14th September 2022.

The focus of the day will be the launch of two parallel competitions. The first competition, OPS-SAT VOLT, will be to develop the next generation optical and quantum payloads, alongside developing the platform and ground segment. The second competition will be the UK’s first dedicated commercial lunar communications call.

Aidan - ARTES Partner Programme

Aidan is the tenth project to be initiated and funded under the ARTES Partner Programme element, aimed at supporting industry-initiated Public Private Partnerships. It is a partnership with the Satellite Operator Viasat which will develop, validate and roll out key elements of an innovative Ground Segment solution.
