Description
The objective of this activity is to design, manufacture and test high quality factor, low loss filters as needed for V-band intersatellite links.Targeted Improvements:Filter quality factor improved by 30% to 50% compared to conventional filters at V-band ISL frequencies.Description:Intersatellite links (ISL) are key system elements for satellite-based communication networks.Filters arerequired at the front end of the antenna to provide the required rejection to protect the other onboard equipment and to mitigate interference. Low loss filters are required to minimise the system noise figure but are difficult to achieve in the ISL V-band. Techniques such as chain function realisations can help to achieve tuning less high-quality filters and have the potential to provide an acceptable compromise between losses and out-of-band rejection. This activity will investigate design and resonator technologies to achieve low loss V-band ISL filters. A filter engineering model for a V-band ISL will be developed, manufactured and experimentally tested.Procurement Policy: C(1) = Activity restricted to non-prime contractors (incl. SMEs).
