Call for AIS Testbed Interface requirements related to the SAT-AIS Initiative Comparative Performance Assessment

As part of the SAT-AIS Initiative, ESA is establishing a Comparative Performance Assessment (CPA) process to assess the performance of current or planned Space-based AIS. ESA will set up a CPA Working Group formed by representatives of Member States, Academic entities and national agencies to agree on testing scenarios and on a common test methodology.

The basis for the testing performed in the CPA process is the AIS End-to-End Testbed, which is being developed by ESA under the ARTES 5.1 programme. The end-to-end AIS Testbed shall include an AIS emulator as well as a physical layer test bench. The End-to-end AIS testbed will be hosted at ESA Telecommunication Laboratories at ESTEC.

The objective of this call is to gather a comprehensive list of interface requirements for the physical layer test bench as well as the system simulator from organisations interested in their Space-based AIS system solutions being assessed in the CPA, once established. The end goal is to ensure that all necessary interfacing requirements are taken into account in the definition of the AIS end-to-end Testbed.

The deadline for submissions of answers to this call is 8 April 2011. Due to the testbed implementation schedule, submissions received after the deadline will only be treated in a best effort manner. The format required to submit your proposal is outlined in the document located in the column to the right.
