The JADES study underwrites the outcome of the ESA/EC London workshop regarding the need for a third pillar for satellite communications. Case studies cover the role of satellite services for crises and emergency management as well as broadband access to reduce the digital-divide within Europe. The report has prepared the grounds to further satellite communications within the framework of the EC/ESA green paper initiative on European space policy
