European New Space propulsion system supported by ESA's Core Competitiveness programme gains valuable market successes
With support of ESA's Advanced Research in Telecommunications Systems (ARTES) Core Competitiveness programme funding, Dawn Aerospace and Com&Sens have partnered to develop an innovative smart Composite Overwrapped Pressure Vessel (COPV) propellant tank for Dawn’s propulsion system. Using embedded sensors, the tanks gain additional smart features on top of the traditional high pressure propellant storage.

ESA-supported LacunaSat-2B satellite successfully completes three-year mission and deorbits
LacunaSat-2B, a 3U satellite forming part of Lacuna Space's constellation, has successfully completed its three-year mission and deorbited in April 2024. The satellite was commissioned and operated by Open Cosmos under the Pioneer Partnership Project programme of ESA’s Connectivity and Secure Communications Directorate.
Integrations made through European Space Agency's Pacis 3 project moves Spainsat NG closer to launch pad
The European Space Agency's (ESA) Pacis 3 project took another step towards the launch pad, with the Direct Radiating Array Transmit (DRA TX) antenna and associated power supply unit and antenna control electronics recently delivered to Airbus Toulouse. These components were integrated on to the Spainsat NG1 satellite, a crucial element of the Spainsat second-generation programme for Spanish satellite operator Hisdesat.

European Space Agency reinforces role of Non-Terrestrial Networks as part of global 6G vision
The European Space Agency’s (ESA) Space for 5G/6G Programme Office co-organised the first ETSI Conference, which focused on how Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTNs) will natively integrate with Terrestrial Networks (TN) in 6G and play a key role in the adoption and utilisation of 6G on a global scale, has culminated in a success with dialogues underway to ensure open and robust and standards for globally leading 5G and soon 6G connectivity ecosystem. The Conference was co-organised by ESA, the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) , the 6G Smart Networks and Services Industry Association (6G-IA) and the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU).
European Space Agency's Space for 5G/6G team co-winners of the Satellite Technology of the Year Award
The European Space Agency’s (ESA) Space for 5G/6G programme line, part of the Directorate of Connectivity and Secure Communications, contributed to the winning team at the SATELLITE 2024 conference in Washington DC, United States. The team collected the Satellite Technology of the Year award, decided by the editorial board of publication, Via Satellite, and a public vote.
European Space Agency launches seventh annual conference around optical and quantum communications
The European Space Agency’s (ESA) Strategic Programme Line (SPL), Optical and Quantum Communications - ScyLight, and the Netherlands Space Office has announced the hosting of its seventh annual ScyLight Conference and second Quantum Communications Workshop, which will take place on 12-14 June 2024 in Eindhoven, the Netherlands.
