The objective of WIND was to introduce Wideband and large scale HTS capabilities in the Newtec Dialog Platform and terminal portfolio.
System scalability, high throughput and full wideband capabilities are the key challenges. They all have been met within the project.
Key benefit is a Multi-service, multi-market Newtec Dialog system fully fit for large scale HTS networks.
A new XIF architecture has been introduced.
The project started end 2015 and has been fully realized in September 2017.
Project is fully finalized. The resulting products are being delivered in operational networks.
Satellite communications has entered a new era with the introduction of High Throughput satellites (HTS). This era has started couple of years ago, driven by vertically integrated companies resulting mostly in B2C services within North America.
As a result and outcome of the successful WIND project, Newtec has completed the Newtec Dialog System with full support for Wideband carriers and HTS scalability and Hub density. The XIF Newtec Dialog architecture has been introduced.
The Newtec modem portfolio is enhanced with 2 new modem types as outcome of WIND:
- The MDM2210, targeting the consumer and SOHO market and wideband capable.
- The MDM3310, targeting the enterprises and professional markets and wideband capable.
