TAW 2006 Remote Participation

The 2006 Telecom Applications Workshop provides a forum for projects supported through ESA Telecom's Applications to discuss the latest satcom developments, share experiences and explore possible synergies. A number of interesting presentations will be given by various applications projects. An agenda has been posted and can be downloaded by clicking under documentation at the top-right of this page.

The workshop will be distributed live (video/audio of the speakers and slides) over the HELLAS-SAT 2 satellite capacity (39E orbital position). You are invited to receive the transmission and participate interactively through chat. Any parties interested in acting as a 'remote hosting site' for external guests, should contact Heico Salfeld, by clicking at the right of this page.

How to particpate remotely
All necessary technical information on how to receive the satellite transmission has been published on this website. Go to 'related links' at the right of this page for information on:

Please note that the transmission is not a 'normal' TV broadcast, and special software is must be installed (system requirements Windows 2005 and XP). A DVB-S receiver card (or USB DVB-S box) is also required.

To receive HELLAS-SAT 2, a satellite dish size of about 1m diameter is sufficient for most places in Europe. A series of test transmissions will be organised in the weeks before the workshop. Anyone wishing to join the mailing list to be informed about times for these tests, should contact Heico Salfeld, by clicking at the right of this page.
