DELAY LINE FOR Q-BAND TRAVELLING WAVE TUBES (ARTES AT 5C.355) - (ON DELEGATION REQUEST)

Description

(*) On Delegation Request (formerly called Priority 2)

The objective of the activity is to develop a delay line for 100 W class Q-Band travelling wave tubes capable of operating with safe design margins in terms of power handling and stability and with a 5 GHz instantaneous bandwidth.

Targeted Improvements: To improve the delay line structure and thereby significantly improve the efficiency, power handling and stability of a 100 W Q-band travelling wave tube.

Description: High Throughput Satellites (HTS) and Very High Throughput Satellites (VHTS) rely on Q band frequencies to achieve the intended throughput. Today customers demand 100 W class Q-Band travelling wave tubes with 5 GHz bandwidth. However, currently available delay lines are limited in bandwidth and power handling capability. In this activity new delay line technology for a 100 W class Q-band travelling wave tube shall be designed, developed andvalidated experimentally at breadboard level.

(*) On Delegation Request (formerly called Priority 2) activities will only be initiated on the explicit request of at least one National Delegation.
