Description
The objective of the activity is to design, manufacture and test a photovoltaic assembly breadboard with micro concentration technologies. Targeted Improvements: Reduce by a factor of at least two the area of solar cells necessary to reach the requested power; Faster production of solar cells; Automation of the manufacturing processes.
Description:
Solar concentration is a major way to improve solar array competitiveness by reducing the active area of solar cells for an equivalent power generation capability. Micro-concentration can bring a reduction of 50% of the quantity of solar cells. Several solar micro-concentration concepts at solarcell level have been proven to work in previous research and development activities. These promising concepts require further development, including adaptation to the space environment and integration into photovoltaic networks.
In this activity, micro-concentration concept(s) will be evaluated and the most promising one selected for further development, taking into account the industrial aspects of their exploitation. Photovoltaic breadboards including the selected micro-concentration technologies will be designed, manufactured and tested.
