Description
The objective of this activity is to develop a complete system platform able to demonstrate the S-band system performances inproviding broadcast and interactive services to handheld/home end-users, with a particular focus on the in-home environment. Awide range of services and applications with mass market potential, including TV and data broadcasting, interactive TV,conditional access, Pay Per View, content distribution on demand, home shopping, ... can be offered in this service segment.According to the system design definition activities, the system architecture applicable to the service segment underconsideration shall comprise as key elements: the S-band hub, the satellite link, the complementary terrestrial network (both forforward and return link), the enhanced in-home gap fillers (i.e. with return link integrated subsystem), the user indoorequipments, (if available) enhanced palm size handheld terminals with interactive capabilities.
