The European Space Agency (ESA) is continuing its partnership with Eutelsat Group (recently merged with LEO operator OneWeb) through the Sunrise Partnership Project. The project, now entering its third phase, will provide technological advancement for products and services, enhancing European and Canadian competitiveness and increase capacity for the growing existing and future market demands.

The European Space Agency’s (ESA) Space for 5G/6G Programme Office co-organised the first ETSI Conference, which focused on how Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTNs) will natively integrate with Terrestrial Networks (TN) in 6G and play a key role in the adoption and utilisation of 6G on a global scale, has culminated in a success with dialogues underway to ensure open and robust and standards for globally leading 5G and soon 6G connectivity ecosystem. The Conference was co-organised by ESA, the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) , the 6G Smart Networks and Services Industry Association (6G-IA) and the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU).
The European Space Agency’s (ESA) Space for 5G/6G programme line, part of the Directorate of Connectivity and Secure Communications, contributed to the winning team at the SATELLITE 2024 conference in Washington DC, United States. The team collected the Satellite Technology of the Year award, decided by the editorial board of publication, Via Satellite, and a public vote.

The Pacis 3 project – which is a partnership between the European Space Agency (ESA) and satellite operator Hisdesat – has taken a significant step forward in its progress to launch a SpainSat NG satellite. As part of the thermal hardware for the Pacis 3 active antennas, four Loop Heat Pipe Sub-Assemblies (LSA) have been delivered and integrated to the first satellite in Toulouse, France.

The agenda for an ETSI event co-organised with the European Space Agency (ESA)’s Space for 5G/6G programme on integrating Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN) into 6G systems, has been released and will allow for industry and academia to discuss the current state of play – and future – of connectivity beyond 5G. The free conference is scheduled to take place 3-4 April 2024 on the Sophia Antipolis technology park in southeast France.
The close of Mobile World Congress, MWC Barcelona for short, has been hailed as a huge success by the engineers of the European Space Agency’s (ESA) Space for 5G/6G programme line and the global mobile innovation organisation, GSMA – not just for the future of connectivity but also in the interactions garnered from an over-one-hundred-thousand-visitor-strong audience, one of which included His Majesty the King of Spain, Felipe VI.
